  This is just a confirmation of Amazon's excellent service & price. I ordered the G9 yesterday afternoon (28th July) and received it today. No dead pixels on the LCD or any other "blooming" niggles some have reported.
  
  I was going to buy one in Hong Kong in the very near future, but some research indicated that Hong Kong prices were only fractionally lower than Amazon! Why throw away the box & guarantee card for just 20 quid?
  
  It's too early to comment on performance yet, as I've only shot a few test shots before filling the measly 32MB card supplied. The 4GB SDHC card I ordered at the same time as the camera hasn't arrived yet.
  
  I'm fairly discerning, having owned many Pentax & Nikon SLRs and a DSLR, plus several Olympus & Canon (IXUS) digital compacts. As expected, the G9 has a lovely, weighty, quality feel about it. The buttons are a little small & fiddly, and I wish there was some kind of cover for that shiny 3" LCD screen (like the Nikon D70). But other than that, it's great.
  
  I can't wait to go accessory shopping in HK now :)

  This is one of the best Digital compacts you can buy in my opinion
  the quality of the pictures is fantastic, the ability to shoot Raw is the icing on the cake.
  if your looking for a digital compact i would look no further

  I had intended to buy a digital SLR but the G9 was recommended to me as a less heavy alternative.Owned a G9 for 7 months now and still discovering the amazing flexibility of a great camera.One of my first extra purchases was a spare battery but a charged battery lasts me several weeks of moderate usage. I thoroughly endorse this camera as a serious alternative for an SLR.

  I can only add my voice to the chorus. I liked this camera already reading the specs, and I loved it the moment I got it in my hands. It is solid, fast, elegant, easy to use, flexible (going from completely manual to automatic). The pictures it takes are really good quality. I cannot spend enough time talking about the results with the macro, since I got this camera I took pictures of every flower I could find on my path (even in Manchester city centre!). I could shoot my friend performances in semi darkness with higher level of ISO and/or regulating the intensity of the flash light to a minimum to minimize disturbance. The camera movement correction is really good, infact shooting free hand with long times still gives good results but the camera warns you that you are risking it. For the non purist there are color controls that allow you to shoot in B&W, sepia or accentuating different primary colors and light controls that allow to remove overtones introduced by surrounding lights. There are 3 different ways of focusing from face-recognition to manual focus. It can shoot an indefinite number of pictures....
  
  I think that the description "even if you are an amateur you'll want to take better pictures with this camera" is absolutely centred. It did it for me.

  Look at the other reviews, there is no reason to give this camera anything less than 5 star.
  
  Battery lasts ages
  Picture quality is so clear
  Optical zoom function is very decent
  Video options are great Time lapse mode is so cool.
  
  
  I cannot belive how many functions have been packed into it.
  
  Researched this camera for ages and I do not regret my purchase for a second!
