But sometimes getting lost will be less frustrating. Not for you if you if you are in a hurry as it often takes over 10 minutes to "acquire satellites" and until it does, you're on your own. Occasionally it will send you on a little (mile or two) detour presumably because it thinks a road is closed. Its estimates of your arrival time seems to assume no other traffic and all traffic lights at green. It is certainly easy to use but not well laid out. Your information is on two pages when the important stuff could be on one. And your screen will sometimes be repeatedly replaced with a speed camera warning. When you use the map mode it does not allow for your movement so before long you will disappear off the edge. On the plus side you could probably safely leave it on display in your car and no one would steal it. that's worth one of the stars. The other two are because it does what it is supposed to: it dreams up a route to where you want to go. But TomTom does it better and faster

By P. Hodgson,
I haven't come across a perfect Sat Nav yet but the Nuvi 200W gets as close as is feasibly possible for a cheap basic machine. 100% better than the Navman S30 I bought earlier and immediately regretted.
The wide screen and generously sized keypad makes entering addresses a piece of cake. The intuitive software also makes this task very easy once you are familiar with it. This only takes a couple of goes so you are flying in no time.
The mapping and route calculation is top notch and it re-calculates in an instant if you go wrong. The screen is clear and bright and a pleasure to use.
I suppose my only niggles - otherwise it would have been five stars - is the lack of a £3 USB cable supplied in the box (how else are you supposed to get updates!! - get a grip Garmin!!) and the fact that the Safety Camera alerts often continue 'bonging' well past the end of the restricted zone.

This is the first sat nav i have owned and i am very pleased with it,the wide screen is great and the mapping has not let me down yet.
The build quality is great and i used my Fuji camera usb lead to connect it to my computer.Sometimes on switch on it takes up to 2 mins to locate the satellites but this is not a problem, all in all well worth the money.

Bought this off Amazon, it was brilliantly done.
Teh mapping was great, screen is brilliant is easier to follow than a TomTom satnav (I've previously used the ONE (1st Ed) and ONE XL). It also has great features such as dragging maps and entering co-ordinates which I found useful.
But I had to return it, the sound quality was terrible, at full volume the system vibrates, it's still too quiet and very tinny at 100%, it's virtually unhearable on motorways, and would be even further with the radio on. The sound quality on the Tom Tom's are amazinga nd rich though (even if they do make you get lost and the maps are squished together)
It may have just been my system though, I'd highly recommend this product, and recommend it from Amazon too, they ahve best price on the net so far, but I'd also recommend you do a test run prior to purchase if that's at all possible.

I bought this even though newer versions were available, of this and the equivalent Tomtom. I'm glad I saved £35! It does everything I need. Directions are good, as are the volume, route calculation time (a few seconds), re-calculation time, (if you miss your turn), notification of speed camera's, etc. You can find and download lots of extra points of interest onto the unit or onto an SD card. You will need the USB cable to download the software update, which is all very straight-forward. You can enter a post-code, town, street name, or my favourite: co-ordinates. I went on Google Earth, found the place I wanted on the map (a National Trust car park), and entered the co-ordinates from the map. The Nuvi took me right there. To be honest, when I was investigating which unit to purchase, I did not look at the expensive ones, so I don't know what additional features you get for your money. But I do know, that whatever they are, it would be 'gilding the Lilly'.
