  this satnav comes with a suction thingy... I didn't read the "what's in the box" properly and was swayed by "what other people bought with this".... so now I have two suction thingys, but completely my own fault for not reading the very clear notes by Amazon... but I guess I'm not the only one if it's still showing a separate suction thingy as being bought together with this model!

  Despite downloading "spain" 1 day before departure the journey to our hotel(6 Km from airport) LASTED 3 HOURS AND ONLY THEN BY FOLLOWING A TAXI!!It took me on unknown roads,discontinued flyovers,and back to the airport via a toll road,to mention but a few rerouting events!!
  Our trip to Bavaria was relatively good with only one "event" when 200 feet meant instant -burning some rubber!!
  UK is significantly out of date and should you live in Cambridge or Bedford it does not know about bypasses and the "safety camera" info is out of date ie the cambourne bypass still thinks it is on the old A45 and warns you of a camera!
  for £99 its ok but i suspect the downloads are not updated and worthless.

  I have had the Garmin for about 6 months now and it has not let me down once. I work as a salesman and spend a lot of time travelling to appointments, the Garmin has taken me to the doorstep everytime even if it's a barn in the middle of no where. I used it in France recently with no problems at all. I had a Tom Tom before and would say the Garmin is easier to use and more accessible, although I preferred the route map the Tom Tom shows before you start.
  
  I have never had a problem with the Garmin finding a satellite unlike some of the other reviewers but I have found that the Garmin occasionally makes some strange choices of route avoiding a main road and even detouring through small lanes. These detours always seem to be at the same places so possibly a very localised fault and to be fair, any extra time is only a couple of minutes so maybe the Garmin is trying to avoid traffic jams that don't exist anymore!
  
  I had to choose between the Tom Tom and the Garmin, I am very happy with my decision having had a Tom Tom previously.

  The good news: this unit is cheap to buy, easy to operate and has good battery life.
  
  The bad news: YOU WILL GET LOST.
  
  I find it hard to recall one occasion on which this otherwise lovely little SatNav has actually successfully taken me to my intended destination (I'm sure you'll agree, a rather irritating trait in a piece of kit designed to do just that).
  
  In Britain, the Garmin seems simply to be rather confused - unable, for example, to differentiate between junctions and roundabouts; unaware of the fact that certain roads have long ago closed or had changed priorities (if I had a penny for every time it tried to send me the wrong way down a one-way street, or into a road which is now a dead-end, I'd have £2.35).
  
  Abroad - for example, in Tenerife - I truly believe that I could navigate better with my eyes closed, simply choosing roads at random (I just wish the little woman who stridently insists that you `turn right' - most likely towards a cliff - at least had the courtesy to apologise, or even sound a little remorseful, when she gets it wrong - she doesn't, instead insisting with somewhat unjustified confidence that you `execute a u-turn' at the earliest possible opportunity. Enormously irritating).
  
  So, if you merely want a SatNav so that you can have it on your windscreen and tell your mates you've got a SatNav, I couldn't recommend the Garmin highly enough. However, if you are serious about arriving at your destination before you die, I might suggest trying something else.

  I think this is a great product. I have been using it in Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, UK and Switzerland. Only one word: FANTASTIC.
  I drove in Amsterdam, Segovia, Burgos, Madrid, Waterloo, the Val del Somme, Geneva, Zurich, Nize, Torino, London (I am foreign and London is really a pain)and Rome like a local, even I found cheaps hotels around!
  Limitations: the conection which goes into the cigarrette light unscrew itself in the middle of the night (I had no idea this can happen and the pieces fell into the carpet I did not noticed) and I lost the power and luckily I found a petrol station to buy a map. Be careful as this things happens not only with Garmin but with others as well I have been told.
  Sometimes gets silly, example going to Luton Airport from Milton Keynes by little lanes and the A5 instead of the M1, simply crazy. Just reset again ad will do it fine.
  I am fully satisfied with the product. I changed my view of electronic devices for ever.
