  I have the Talex for 1 month now and I am very please with it. It has so far detected all fixed cameras and correctly warn me of areas where mobile camera might be present. I have used this before I updated the database via internet and there is no difference in the area I am using it.
  The only niggle is that the cigarette adapter is not very secure and the unit will switch off if it's nudged (This might depend on your car model).

  I have had a telex for 12 months, and a few months ago registered for a further 12 months, and have found this product to be very good. However, I now find that the company have gone into administration, and a company called novus have taken over. I have tried to update, but have found their update page not in operation yet. So if you are thinking of buying this product, please bear this in mind.

  Unlike many devices of this type it knows when to keep quiet!! The Talex has spotted every camera site I pass and best of all doesn't drive you mad if you are under the posted limit - this means when it does pitch up you pay attention.
  
  Talex themselves went into administration but the good news is the new owner Novus GPS is offering free camera database updates from their site now.

  This item requires a USB adaptor to connect to your PC to download updates - this lead does not come with the detector. The deal is that when you subscribe to the updates they will send you the lead. I have just paid £49.99 for a three year subbscrition and cannot persuade Talex to send me one

  I have this device for about 3 months
  There some good and bad points
  
  Good:
  - It is working
  
  Bad:
  - With current data installed catching about half cameras (London)
  - For update records you should buy additional kit and yearly subscription (about 20 per year)
  - I have ordered this kit - but never received it. Contacted their customer service, they found that not sent it to me, promised to send it - but again, nothing received. Customer service is not friendly, even dropped the call in the middle. I am starting investigation with my credit card provider to refund money back.
  - Also I have ticked the box to not receive any information from them - they keep sending me emails with advertising. Last one - they were looking for salesmen.
  - It does not have battery inside - so you need to keep it in the socket.
  - Device becomes very annoying when you speeding before camera or more important possible mobile camera spot. This is good point from one side - but disturbs when you know the place.
  - Some software bugs - It is giving 2 hours drive time alert - but it is not connecting with actual driving.
  
  
  
  Conclusion:
  Also device is working - the total cost of updated one is very high. You can find their competitors with lifetime subscription, antiradar, and battery pack for the same price. The biggest minus for me - is their customer service.
