  I placed an order for the Veho VF-004 5MP Negative & Slide Scanner after reading 3 very positive reviews. I was especially attracted to the idea of converting all those old slides into JPG images that I could then view on my laptop. I now believe those reviews must have been written by someone connected to the supplier! This item is no more than a very poor quality plastic toy which does not deliver any useful images whatsoever. The images created were appalling, with the vast majority of detail being completely lost. No wonder it comes with image enhancing software! Although, of course, it did not really help because it is not possible to recreate detail that was actually lost in the scanning process. The results were so poor, I thought the unit must be defective so I organised a replacement which turned out to be equally poor. I am very surprised that Amazon have anything to do with this item, especially since the supplier fails to respond to any emails and cannot be contacted by phone because they are ex-directory. AVOID THIS ITEM AT all COSTS!

  Looking at the many reviews this product seems to be like Marmite, you either love it or hate it....well i can say I brought one and I love it. It's certainly one of the cheapest devices that converts old slide and negs, I found image quality more than good enough for the task I had...I think you have to bear in mind that slides are over 30 years old and when originally developed did have a tendency to over expose, therefore the scanner will just replicate the original slide, the problem is not apparent on negatives, just a small proportion of slides. Taking this into account I cannot understand the negative reviews, especially as I emailed Veho to ask about extra slide trays...they answered within 5 minutes! All in all 5 stars for price, quality and speed of scanning

  I was looking for a scanner so I could put all the old photos of my late father-in-law and the grandchildren onto a digital photo frame for my mother-in-law for Christmas. I was a bit nervous after reading the previous reviews but have to say I plugged the scanner into my laptop two days ago and have had a lovely time easily and quickly converting photos. It's a doddle to use, the photos are coming out more or less exactly like the originals and I know my M-I-L is going to be absolutely thrilled, as am I. I'm going to get a lot of use (and pleasure) out of this marvellous little machine.

  Ordered this nice little device late on Friday, it was delivered this morning and set-up on my PC was relatively easy. Would have given the scanner 5 stars for easy use. However like mentioned by some previous reviewers, whitebalance is a bit a problem: most of my test negatives (from 2002) did come out much too blue. Sometimes this is easily fixed with photoshop, but still hope to find a faster way to get close to the original before converting a larger number of negatives.

  The quality of scanning is appalling. Save the money and take your slides to a shop and have them scanned. I bought this to scan old family slides for my Dad. I was really looking forward to receiving it and was extremely disapointed by the results. I am sending it back, it is not fit for purpose. The only good thing about it is the packaging.
